Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love Church

Ministry – Unity Sister Women’s Fellowship

Elder LaVerne Norman, Director/JLAL Women

Pastor – Steven Norman

Unity Sisters is a Women’s Fellowship that meets two-three times annually. The Director, LaVerne Norman is an advocate of a balanced Christian life and the truth that many women participate in various ministries within church. One unique way of bonding is through actual church service. The Director and Coordinator, Vanessa Clark, work amicably to identify newer ladies in the ministry that desire collaboration and participation. The newer and older members come together to create fresh, pristine, and enduring, established ideas that glorify God. Although we usually have some type of refreshment, the major prominence is always placed on Christ and spiritual food.

Periodically, we emphasize already established church prayers times in an effort to promote more ladies to come out and join in corporate prayer. It’s a great time to jump the ‘fear hurdle’ of praying in public.

The Sisters come together and work on various service projects. We have adopted families for Christmas, we enjoy nursing home visits, we send Christmas cards to inmates, and we play a huge part in evangelism efforts as it relates to supporting what Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love is doing.

Outings are also lots of fun. Unity Sisters will sometimes have lunch at an affordable restaurant after a time of teaching. We will do Christmas activities together like watch a play together and we’ve had a shopping excursion but we set budgets first! We will involve ourselves in many things as the Lord leads.

Theme Scriptures:

Ephesians 4: 1-5   I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

***Unity comes from God. Division comes from the enemy***

As Sisters-In-Christ we are either about unity or division. At JLAL we’ve chosen Unity!

Unity is not an elective for Christians. It is a responsibility which the Lord has assigned to all believers. We are to put forth every effort to maintain the unity which God has created.

Unity obligates us to display the kind of an attitude which promotes fellowship and peace. There is no place for treachery and betrayal among sisters. "Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us?

Unity is so important because Satan led the first Division which occurred in Heaven. He was so cunning that he convinced 1/3 of the angels to follow Him. If he did that then, if we’re not on guard, he can surely bring division now and we’ll be following his suite instead of the ways of Christ.

Unity is achieved when a group of people are headed for a common purpose in a common direction. Unity is not the same as uniformity; it does not require that everyone be the same. In fact that usually hinders real unity. Another word for unity is sometimes harmony and, by definition you need at least two different musical notes to make harmony! The unity of the body of Christ is precious. It was purchased at the price of our Lord's life. We must make every effort to protect it.

Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love Church Vision Statement: To Save the Lost ~ To Transform the Saved

Unity Sisters lines up with the overall church Vision. Our intent is to strengthen the fellowship amongst the women of Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love Church. We are to promote wholesome, committed, joyous servant leaders of the most High God. We want healthy relationships concerning our sisters in this Assembly. The Director understands the need for interrelationships as well. Though we separate, there is just as great a need to come together and lift Jesus; men, women, youth, teens, all ages, and groups.

Church ladies desire different things. Not everyone needs the same thing and we won’t force things on people. God is a God of choice. We will encourage ladies to get to know one another as the Lord leads. Our mission is to ensure that we can all serve together to glorify God.

Elder LaVerne understands the need for a True B-L-E-N-D. Blessed Ladies Experience Newness Daily!

Before you can BLEND with your sisters you must BLEND with GOD daily!   Lam 3:22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. If I don’t experience the love of God each day, I am apt to short circuit.

Christian Sistership takes time and effort but it’s worth it when we sense that sweet aroma and special bond is formed. Friends that have Jesus in common will have lasting relationships, not just here on earth, but, we will dwell with Christ together throughout eternity. Elder LaVerne aligns herself with the Pastor and Vision of the house to promote Unity amongst the assembly. We certainly love our brothers and the youth!
