Our History

Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love was birthed through the prayers of Pastor Steven Norman as leader, the late, beloved, Evangelist Peggy Stuart and Elder LaVerne Norman, Pastor Steve’s wife and daughter of Evang. Stuart. These prayer meetings officially began in the summer of 1999.

With six charter members we began prayerful strategies for our first service on October 10, 1999 at Fairview Elementary School. In 2000, church growth dictated a change to move to a rented facility at 3612 Melrose Ave in Roanoke VA.  Afterwards, in 2006 the prayer of Jabez was certainly in effect and God blessed us to acquire a beautiful church edifice at 702 Ferdinand Ave in southwest Roanoke.  This location has offered the ministry a sanctuary, fellowship hall and enough classrooms for congregational growth as the vision of the ministry unfolds into the future.

Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love is a non-denominational church centered on Jesus Christ and on the Holy Word of God. We are here to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals and families living in Roanoke and the surrounding areas by reaching them with the life changing truths found in the Bible.

Our vision still stands and that is:  To Save the Lost and to Transform the Saved!  Jesus Is Lord ~ Assembly of Love has had numerous Crusades from the inception.  In addition, some other events have been:  Soul Winning Classes, Birthday Party for Jesus Celebrations, Vision Meetings, Evangelism and Door Knocking, Deliverance Services, Harvest Celebrations, Good Friday Prayer Service, Revivals, Leadership Sessions, Outreach & Evangelism, Special times of Corporate Fasting and Prayer, Church Picnics, Fellowship Services, Dramatic Programs, Special Services, Wedding Ceremonies and so much more.

We are blessed to have our Imparting God’s Love Television Broadcast air on Cox Channel 02 since 2004. It airs on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30 pm. These are yet other avenues to reach people.

We have a Pastor after God’s own heart and because of this; we are blessed and highly favored.  We realize that God instituted fellowship so we enjoy serving the Lord with other like-minded ministries who are just as blessed within their respective visions.  We have many friends within and beyond the Roanoke Valley and love to fellowship. If you don’t have a church home, you may join us anytime on Sundays at 11:00 am , Wednesdays at 6:30 pm and any of our special services.  You may come as you are as we receive all people with the love of Christ.  Our Pastor, Steven, Elect Lady LaVerne and the church leaders and family look forward to meeting you as the Lord leads.  It is our continued desire to glorify God and edify the Saints as we walk in the Spirit.

With this, we are in God’s Will!
